Futsal Canada Pioneers Still Going Strong in British Columbia - At the Cowichan Tribes - Cradle of Canadian Futsal




Futsal in Canada since it's stardon  still going strong since the 80's .

The 2015  futsal season at the Cowichan Tribes '  gymnasium  in the City of Duncan, British Columbia , Canada , started with a weekend tournament to bring people together and moves on to a full futsal league for both women and men's division  , making this one of the oldest futsal program in Canada that i had the pleasure to participate right from the beginning 
On December 6, 2015 ,  I went visit the Cowichan Tribes Futsal Tournament and met with  some old futsal friend , that goes back 30 years ago , and some of them still playing futsal . 
Just to list a few :  brothers Craig George and Dwyane George , Alec Johnnie  once considered the best futsal player in Canada ( now his 19 years old son was awarded one of  the tournament Best Player .

The final event in the Men's division was a tribal battle between  Cowichan vs Cooper Island .

  Alec Johnnie  know as one of the best futsal player developed in Canada, Alex has a long history on the Canadian futsal History - Alex played in three futsal world cup from Fifusa to Fifa . I met Alex when he was 16 years old trying out for an outdoor soccer team to become the best futsal player developed in Canada that scored   goals   against Brazil , Paraguay , Bolivia and many other . 
Three trips to europe , eight to Australia - including 1988 world cup  and Aboriginal cups , Alex  participated in a few dozens of international futsal events

 When futsal people in Ontario Futsal think that there is no futsal in British Columbia this proves that they are not totally informed about the game of futsal history in Canada.  
I would like to see the sports writer Kris Fernandes come to visit the oldest ongoing futsal league in Canada - due to estar in January 2015

 There is Craig George one of the event organizer - Craig and I goes back during the stardom of futsal in Canada . Craig was a teenager and become one of the Canadian futsal team top player along with with his brother Dwayne
