Snuneymuxw First nation held on November 4,5,6 - 2016 the first ever Peter Good Jr and

Joe Wyse Jr Memorial Cup .

Peter and Joe no longer with us but still are futsal pioneers in Canada , both played futsal from the stardom of the game in Nanaimo

First Nation Futsal in Canada goes back in 1980 at the old Malaspina College Gym , where ,with Canadian friend I started a futsal program for kids in Nanaimo , from that , we formed a league for both man and women and the Nanaimo Native Sons soccer team from the Nanaimo Snuneymuxw First Nation were participating and won the league several time . The league continued growing from 4 teams to 12 man team and 6 women . Also we had anual futsal tournament with team coming from the cities of Saanich , Dancan, Victoria , Vancouver , Burnaby, Surey, Delta .

Packed stands during 3 days watching the first futsal tournament at the Snuneymuxw Gym

Trophies and souvenirs were presented to the tournament winers , all stars team, MVPs in what was a well done and well deserved participation

It was a great weekend , I had the opportunity to visit old friends, from the Snuneymuxw First Nation families , Brown , Wyse , Good , White , Johnnie , Seward , Thomas , George , Wesley , White and make new ones during the 3 day futsal event as well as interacting on the Facebook Social Midia .

Jerry Brown former Chief that I had the pleasure to work together on the Aboriginal Cup committee and Chief now John Wesley were present during the event opening and finals . But recognitions goes for for all the volunteers led by the Facility Manager Mariah Robison and gym staff for the well done work to put together the Futsal Tournament that I believe will be part of the Snuneymuxw Sporting Event Calendar .
