Report from Futsal in Montreal - By Ed Ciampelletti:- "I see great perspectives for Futsal in Canada"

Ciampelletti: "I see great perspectives for Futsal in Canada"

Even during his University years to complete a Major in International Economics in Montreal, former Italian futsal player Edoardo Ciampelletti gets involved into the game. He is in fact playing in the University league (9 goals in 3 matches so far) and starting to better understand the possibilities of a futsal development in Canada. "I see great perspectives for futsal here, people are starting to know the game and leagues are mushrooming all over the country, especially in Ontario and Quebec"." Facilities even are really good, every university or college or sport centre has one or two futsal courts, I am pretty sure that there are more futsal courts in Canada than in Italy, In addition with the cold winter futsal is a good variable to outdoor soccer". Data shows this increase in interest in futsal in the country. Leagues in Ontario are well organized, in Quebec three new tournaments started this season and BC remains the capital of Canadian futsal in terms of organization and participants."The communities that are getting involved in the game are now various, it is not anymore a prerogative of Latinos, British and southern Europeans  but in this weeks in the university league i saw great Iranians, Lebanese or bengalese good players". The growing about futsal in Quebec particularly is driven even by the growing interest in soccer, since now Montreal hosts the best Canadian team in the MLS, the Montreal Impact. With growing passion for soccer and cold winters futsal is the ideal variant!  By the way Canada failed to go in the next world cup (Thailand 2012) once again and results in the other tournaments are still poor (this shows even in the ranking where Canada's position is 59, right behind Indonesia and Tajikistan. "I think the main reason is not in the lack of good players but in the overall country's organization. Training camps are too small and they do not occur often. Not all leagues are taken in consideration and analyzed and there is a lack even in Futsal experts, i mean people coming from European or south american futsal, not from soccer because futsal is really different from soccer."Once Canada has fixed those organizational problems hiring expert futsal trainers, it will become one of the best countries for futsal, i am pretty sure about that!". concludes Ciampelletti
